You asked for Studio Ghibli comments at the end of this episode. Very hard to pick a favourite from My Neighbour Totoro, Whisper of the Heart, The Tale of Princess Kaguya, or about six or seven others.

I think what sets Studio Ghibli apart as a production house – and what gives it such an incredible batting average – is that it prizes character above all else. Its films are routinely entertaining, thrilling, magical, and thought-provoking, but the drama only exists to serve character development. Imagination with a beating human heart.

I wish I could say the same for the current glut of superhero films! But it’s a blessing, I suppose, because then I’d be broke.
