Today, I ponder how strange the change from major to minor, as I grapple with a “minor” work of Jacques Rivette, 1984’s L’Amour par la terre (Love on the Ground). In this shot from the film, Jane Birkin is not, contrary to appearances, about to bite off Laszlo Szabo’s nose:

Wonderful writeup of one of my favorite Rivette films. It probably helps that the lovely Jane Birkin is present, though. It seems that many don’t give this the attention it deserves. For my money, he was at his cinematic peak in the 80s.
When I saw this picture I thought, “Jane Birkin… and Morey Amsterdam!?!?!?”
