Not a Hitchcock masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination…but not necessarily the nadir Hitch regarded it as, either. For the viewer, it helps to be a little enamored (as I am) of its female lead Jessie Matthews. I explain it all (I hope) over at The Auteurs’ Notebook. Comment there or here.
