She really was impeccable; always a pleasure to hear. I think her Gershwin songbook gives Ella’s a run for its money, really I do.

I had a massive crush on her when I was a kid.
Steve Allen (TVs only real beatnik, obviously) used to have her on fairly often.
That whole West Coast blonde hep chick thing…I was hooked for life.

Hey, Glenn – I remember you from your days at The Daily News. Chris was a dear friend and I really appreciate your kind words(andI will make sure Lori sees them). Chris was one of a kind and could curl that voice around a microphone like nobody’s business. She was also full of piss and vinegar and was a riot to hang out with! They don’t make them like that any more.
