    Have you ever seen (stu­pid ques­tion, as you prob­ably have…but I’ll con­tin­ue) Out of The Fog, a 3/4ths nasty 1941 effort with Garfield and Ida Lupino? For the afore­men­tioned first three quar­ters, Garfield plays a heart­less slimeball immacu­lately, before tedi­ous but per­haps neces­sary mor­al­ism arrives. But it’s still a keeper.

    i have seen sev­er­al of Garfield’s movies. he is eas­ily the most under­rated act­or in amer­ic­an cinema his­tory. he was fantastic.
