Over at The Auteurs’, I put on my grumpy old man hat (which is getting to be a really good fit), and contemplate all that I’m missing by not being in Park City. It’s a particularly flippant installment of Topics, etc., but it’s very heartfelt in its flippancy, if you know what I’m saying.

Great piece, Glenn! Definitely had me laughing. Thanks for the excellent comments!
“The movie looks like ass because it looks like ass.”
Doesn’t this all depend on whose ass, exactly, we’re talking about?
As for the rest of it, I’m with you, at least as far as I can be when it comes to film festivals, having never been to one myself. But I’ve spent a lot of time, in the past, grinding my teeth while reading about this or that festival, wishing I could be there, but the coverage on Sundance this year has not brought that out in me.
Also, as an aside, we’re supposed to be getting a blizzard tonight, down in my neck of the woods, so the wife and I went to the video store and loaded up. Amidst all the DEAD SNOWs and ANVIL: THE STORY OF ANVILs and so on, I also picked up SUMMER HOURS. Don’t say I never did anything for you.
