Oh, I see that MSN Movies has put up that Best/Worst of Nicolas Cage piece I worked up for them to peg to the release of Season of the Witch, which didn’t happen, and hence got pushed up to peg to Kick-Ass. A fun little romp through a very interesting career, or at least I hope it is. Enjoy, and please, before you ask “What about X…?” remember that I could only do write ups of ten movies total. (And I do address this in my intro.) It’s a formatted world out there!

Oh Nicholas, your sins and triumphs mingle unique!
Praise be to the individual.
I do miss, at least, the trailers for Next. I got a tickle every
time I heard the line “We will take all measures to obtain Kris Johnson” as a close friend of mine, Chris Johnson, can attest.
Unfortunately the trailer for District 9 did not contain a similar line for I hear tell the lead alien in that is given the name Chris Johnson.
What is with fictional and non-fictional Chris Johnsons?
Collectively, let’s not forget Cage as Fu Manchu in Rob Zombie’s Grindhouse segment, Werewolf Women of the SS. I’d pay to see that.
And coming to IFC Center weekends this spring: “Cage Heat: Nicholas Cage at Midnight”!
What about Bringing Out the Dead/Adaptation/Vampire’s Kiss?
what about reading comprehension?
“there are a lot of films and a lot of range in his CV, and we can only recommend that if you like what’s on our five-best list, you should definitely move from there to such near-greats as “Bringing Out The Dead,” “Vampire’s Kiss,” “Red Rock West,” “Matchstick Men,” “Adaptation” and more.”
Ah, Con Air – the point at which Jerry Bruckheimer films reached a brief but shining moment of perfectly cast beatific idiocy!
“Put the bunny back in the box”
My best of (and I’m not trying to be a contrarian here – no really):
Leaving Las Vegas
Adaptation
Face/Off
Lord of War
Bringing Out the Dead
I was being, um, ironic, I think, is the word.
