The only Mimsy, or, did someone mention "Road To Salina?"

Mimsy 2

Yes, somebody did mention the fascinating Road to Salina, in the prior thread, and it reminded me that I recently succumbed and did something I rarely do, which is acquire what is, for all intents and purposes, a bootleg disc of that film. Which I haven’t looked at in its entirety yet. But judging from the screen cap I just got from it, it ought to be pretty decent, quality-wise.

How do I justify my ethical lapse? As you may have suspected, I blame it on my sick thing for Mimsy Farmer. Which means I really should be seeking out/clamoring for a DVD, or Blu-ray disc, or print, after which I can buy a projector to show it with, of avant-garde filmmaker Lewis Klahr’s 1987 Her Fragrant Emulsion, a sorta Rose Hobart style short composed of Farmer’s nude rompings from the Georges Lautner film. Fat chance.

Just a little bit of jouissance here, as I plug away at my soon-to-come Blu-ray Consumer Guide, which is turning out to be more labor-intensive than I had anticipated. Also preparing to spend the weekend at scenic Long Beach Island, New Jersey, where I’ll be participating in the Lighthouse Film Festival, subject of a nice little Wall Street Journal piece here. So I don’t know what to tell ya right now, except hello and enjoy Mimsy.

I know nothing about Road to Salina but I just about jumped out of my seat when I saw Lewis Klahr mentioned. I had the chance to see “False Aging” twice this past semester and it blew me away. I really would love to get a hold of Klahr’s other material. For anyone that wants to, False Aging can be watched here (although it doesn’t do the film justice): http://tinyurl.com/28nu65e

God, yes. Mimsy in “More”. Even in “Riot on Sunset Strip”. Is she still working?

Enjoy Mimsy, indeed. Thanks for the photo of the girl with the far away eyes.
Also, I feel obliged to mention that, as I type, four DVDs of Lewis Klahr’s film work (from 1983–2004) are being prepared for release this summer. And, yes, the Mimsy-ific HER FRAGRANT EMULSION will be included on one of the discs. They’ll be available exclusively at the Wexner Center for the Arts’ bookstore and website: http://store.wexnercenterstore.com/index.html

Mimsy rocks. The sexuality that she brings to Delmer Daves’ “Spencer’s Mountain” is not only unexpected but downright palpable. I always found her compulsively watchable.
