Money #2

Well. It’s hot, there ain’t much going on cinematically until Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore opens next Friday, and my TV (or “plasma display,” as they call it these days) is still broke. And I just paid for the diagnoses and part yesterday, which means the only wisdom I have to impart to you today is BUY WHATEVER EXTENDED WARRANTY YOU CAN NO MATTER WHAT. I mean, seriously. Holy shit. On the bright side, my repairman seems nice, and honest, not unlike Jerry Lewis’s Lester March in Tashlin’s immortal (and criminally unavailable on DVD) It’s Only Money, and thanks much to commenter Evelyn Roak for the reminder of the existence of cinema’s most reliable idiot-box fixer, seen above being monitored on some then-futuristic (the film is from 1962) gear. Of course my repairman also seems more competent, which is also nice. And for the rest of most of the day I must devote myself to improvising some paying work to cover this repair, if you’ll excuse me.

Has anyone read Tashlin’s “children’s” book “The World That Isn’t?” I’d like to track it down.
    Anyway, best o’ luck, Glenn.

IT’$ ONLY MONEY is one of Tashlin’s greatest achievements, and that’s saying something.

Not much going on cinematically? Chaplin at Film Forum, Anti-Biopics at Anthology and Cary Grant at BAM not doing it for you?
Of course, I also share your excitement about The Revenge of Kitty Galore (in 3‑D!).
