“It’s Fassbinder,” the much-missed creative locomotive says on the phone in Germany In Autumn, the extraordinary anthology film assembled by Alexander Kluge. And yes, I know there are a lot of newer and perhaps more “beautiful” things coming from overseas these weeks and months, but as I still have to watch my foreign region discs on my laptop because MY PLASMA DISPLAY STILL ISN’T FIXED, well, I’ve been picking odds and ends from my collection for the Foreign Region DVD Report at The Daily Notebook. Which is not to say that this film isn’t beautiful, or important, or indeed essential.

Is QUERELLE delightful?
This is really you as @ExtAngel, yes? I see no mention of it on the blog…
@ Fact Checka: Indeed, that is really me. I got back in after kinda allowing myself to get chased off because I felt that I couldn’t just be a lurker, checking out the feeds of others while not part of the thing itself. I resolved to behave myself better, or at least in ways that wouldn’t get me chastized by others. Hence, the “Exterminating Angel” tag. I didn’t announce it because I didn’t want to look like some moron who’s on Twitter then off Twitter then on again, but of course I AM some moron who’s on Twitter then off Twitter then on again. Also because I basically use the feed to quote lyrics of whatever came up on the iPod while I was running, brag about how many ab crunches I did today, and make fun of Eric Kohn, things that many “Some Came Running” readers aren’t that interested in. But by the way, I’ve found that Kohn really is the best critic to take the piss out of, as it were. White doesn’t care. With Longworth, it’s like you become her enabler; she whines about being “attacked” then goes all “This is Mrs. Norman Maine speaking” as she thanks her friends for e‑mailing her “in solidarity.” Yeah, she really said “in solidarity;” do you believe that broad? Anyway, Kohn gets all tetchy and defensive and gets his friends to call you a troll, and he never, ever does the one thing that could get you to stop mocking him right away, which take a guess what that might be. Anyway. Fun. Sometimes. But that’s pretty much what I’m up to on Twitter, that and being snide with THE FUTURIST!
Fair enough. I don’t really think THE FUTURIST is funny though. He’s got a terminal case of the Trying Too Hards.
