Glenn your screen shots always spark something interesting. No question Ferzetti was perfect for Antonioni, especially in L’avventura. But I realize seeing his face that I have great warmth for him due to his 1969 double header of Draco and Morton—two indelible sides of the rich and powerful.
Largely thanks to your recommendation, I caught this when it came through a local theater, and was so glad I did. Seeing as you’d hardly know Antonioni even made films before L’Avventura with the way his career is usually discussed, I went in mostly expecting a curiosity, but I really fell for this movie whole-heartedly. Hoping Criterion picks it up for Blu-Ray, as I don’t have a region-free player.
