  Oh man, that’s really sad news. He seemed to be doing bet­ter dur­ing the last few years.
  I’m remem­ber­ing “Shut Em Down” from 1980.

  Really sad espe­cially com­ing so soon after his album “I’m New Here” proved he was­n’t fin­ished artist­ic­ally. I also love his con­tri­bu­tion on “First in Flight” by Blackalicious.

  According to the New Yorker pro­file of last year (and oth­er reports) he was­n’t doing so well…heavy crack addic­tion, HIV-positive diagnosis…sad indeed. His stuff was a won­der­ful com­bin­a­tion of warm, funny, out­raged and wise.
