To say “bad memories of Terminator 2” implies that Terminator 2 sucks. I know that there are people out there who feel that way, but it’s still a pretty bold statement to make so dismissively in passing. (At least, it is to those of my generation who were in the prime target audience when that movie hit.)
At the risk of taking things far too seriously, how can the Ghost Rider’s skull be ablaze, the bones themselves exuding mystic flame, while his eye sockets remain in perpetual shadow? It’s even more contrived than those (comicbook nerd alert) Keith Giffen-by-way-of-Jose Munoz faces where he drew everything below the forehead in silhouette.
In my estimation, “Terminator 2” lands somewhere between the two stools that Kingsley Amis and David Foster Wallace set up for it. (That can be one of those New York Times “how many Google searches does it take?” challenges…) I remember seeing the trailers with the “hasta la vista, baby” stuff in them, and losing the will to live. Cameron and Schwarzenegger and Furlong made that stuff work a lot better in the movie proper, but it’s still borderline lame. Anyway, the movie is hardly holy writ, and if I wanna invoke it in a jokey parenthetical, that’s my prerogative, I reckon.

I love Nevelidine/ Taylor! I plan on seeing this later in the afternoon.
I didn’t figure it would reach the mania of Crank 2.
CRANK 2 is fantastic. It starts with a man falling out of a plane (helicopter? I can’t even remember). It ends with a man on fire. In between, total insanity. Trash of the highest order.
TERMINATOR 2 thought it was “important.” Something that has always bugged me about Cameron is his inability to understand what makes his good movies good. He said in some interview that his least favorite of his own movies were ALIENS and TERMINATOR. Now, I can understand thinking your most recent work is best, but come on, man. You cannot possibly be that dumb.
Any moment in T2 with Edward Furlong in it is meh (except the opening cycle chase, which is pretty good).

With the Republicans it is industry-wide, global, and institutionalized. For example, W’s Republican administration continued banking deregulation, allowing for the banking crisis we all paid for with the bailout that exploded the national debt. Whether the S&L crisis, junk bonds or this banking/economic crisis the Republicans are corrupt and steal on a macro/global basis, taking us to finanicial crisis and eventually economic collapse upon default the the devaluation of the dollar.
