  Drop “Of the late ’50s-early ’60s” and what I imme­di­ately think of is Dawn Weiner from Solondz’s Welcome to the Dollhouse…there’s a scene in that movie where she tries to saw off a bar­bie doll’s neck and she does it while sit­ting on her bed
