Thank you...

By April 9, 2009No Comments

There have been a few very kind, and yes, very encouraging words directed my way in varied comments threads recently, and as I’m a bit too shagged at the moment to concoct a really clever way to say how moved by and appreciative of them I am…I’ll just say it plain. Thanks to all of you; I could never have hoped for a smarter, more engaging crew of readers and commenters. It really makes blogging something to look forward to.

And now I’ve got to watch Webb’s The D.I. (part of my Warner Archive evaluation program), and I’ve got a post about Duke Ellington in Murder In The Vanities percolating. See you soon, and again, thanks.

  • Yes, Commander Kenny … please get to those Warner Archive films. THE FUTURIST! needs to read about what you see in them; the condition, the sound, the presentation, in short … the truth. You are the Sydney Greenstreet of Film Blogging. You can tell if The Falcon is merely painted lead.

Glenn, we read this blog, simply, because we require the straight dope. Could we ever rely on, say, David Edelstein to champion a Blu Ray of “South Pacific”? I think not. Lead on, Brother Yoda. Lead on.

Did I miss something? I hope everything’s okay.

Best film blog online. Keep up the great work Glenn.
Now how about a follow-up to ‘A Galaxy Not So Far Away…’?

  • hisnewreasons says:

Shit, the D.I.! I once had a Vietnam vet for a social studies teacher. He said that his fellow trainees were only allowed to watch two movies – “The Green Berets” and “The D.I.” That kind of gives you an idea of what to expect.
Or maybe not. “Private, is that the fiea you killed?”

  • Tom Russell says:

And thank you, sir, for writing a blog that I always look forward to reading. As the links sidebar on my own page can attest, I check “Some Came Running” on a daily (and sometimes twice- or thrice-daily) basis.

  • Robert says:

Yes, they may not be exactly what we’ve come to expect from Warner Home Video, but having sat down with “Doc Savage Man of Bronze” (and anxiously awaiting the arrival of Sarafian’s “The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing”, Guillermin’s “El Condor”, and Tourneur’s “Wichita”) I am more than pleased with the results.
And as far as the appreciation you’ve expressed for all who have participated in this wonderfully successful experiment, the feeling is mutual.
    Thank you.

  • Ryan Kelly says:

Those who encourage you speak the truth, those who discourage you are dirty liars. Don’t listen to ’em.
Hope you’re not ‘shagged’ in the bad way. Best of luck to ya.

  • Preston says:

Cheers Glenn, I’ve turned on a number of my ‘non-filmi’ friends to your blog. Keep on keepin’ on!
