It’s funny. Quentin’s S&S top 10 list was all English language films, but dude is obviously well steeped in subtitled flicks. It doesn’t bother me, but it’s an interesting directorial choice.
Is Ito a big fan of Bava?
It would be interesting to know if Bava was seen and appreciated in Japan, or if his work corresponds to an independent Japanese tradition. There are certainly numerous points of comparison.
