Even though there still ain't nothing going on but the rent, my bright idea is to start taking advantage of the holiday weekend that a bunch of what we now call union thugs basically scared Grover Cleveland into ratifying back in the day pretty much right now, because it's just too nice out to try and do a late summer reenactment of the great Christmas job search scene in the ever-underrated Kramer Vs. Kramer. Hope your Labor Day days off aren't too laborious. See you, um, on Tuesday.

Thanks, Tony, but I was exaggerating. A lot of build up, and not much of a pay-off.
Personal story: My parents divorced when I was 2. They never really talked much about why and I didn’t do much asking. One weekend when I was about 5 or 6 I was over my dad’s, who was an early adopter to HBO. Kramer vs Kramer came on. After about 10 minutes I was weeping and weeping. We turned the movie off and I haven’t had the courage to revisit it since. But maybe it’s time.
I just watched von Sternberg’s Underworld. Which I can only regard as satire.
But there is a truly great line of dialogue spoken by Bull Weed when he’s compared to Attila:
“Who’s Attila? The leader of some wop gang?”

KRAMER VS. KRAMER has a great middle part – all the scenes between Dustin Hoffman and Justin Henry, plus great support from people like Jane Alexander and JoBeth Williams. If only it wasn’t bookended by an overly melodramatic beginning and an equally bad ending.
