Memento (Nolan, 2000) is screening tonight only at the Academy Cinema in Auckland
A geographically niche recommendation today and one that shows up some of the flaws in our supposedly glorious all-you-can-eat buffet streaming world.
To celebrate the release of Christopher Nolan’s new picture Oppenheimer*, the Academy in Auckland are playing Nolan’s first US production Memento in their retro series tonight at 8.45pm. Tickets are only $5!
This is a rare chance to see a film that has become a popular culture touchstone as well as being an early example of the kind cinematic Sudoku that has made Nolan so popular (and often frustrating for me).
If you are not in Auckland (or already busy tonight) you are out of luck. Memento is currently unavailable online (legitimately) in Aotearoa and our two leading home video outlets only have the DVD version, and the Blu-ray is out of print.
Maybe Nolan is preparing some kind of restoration so our access to it might improve.
