From Eagle Forum Alaska’s 2006 Gubernatorial Candidate Questionnaire:

11. Are you offended by the phrase “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?

SP: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance.

On the other hand, she seems quite nice, as does her oldest daughter, Miley Cyrus.

Someone should have pointed out to the little lady that the Pledge of Allegiance wasn’t written until 1892, long after the “Founding Fathers” had died. And the words “Under God” weren’t inserted into the Pledge until 1954, at the urging of the Knights of Columbus.
I guess she isn’t ‘up’ on her American History. Pathetic.

I just noticed a clip from “The Bells of St. Mary’s” on crooksandliars.com in which the children are reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. No “under God” since the film predates 1954.

Maybe she filled out that survey the one time she was high.
